What You Will Be Doing:

Participate in development and maintenance of the Life Actuarial Department's reporting and data extraction infrastructure. Assist Life Actuaries in reviewing and analyzing new policies, dividend scales and policy reserves based on generally accepted actuarial methods. Perform research to gather and compile statistical data and develop reports that will facilitate and support various external, actuarial, and other departments' processes. Assist in drafting of policies, forms, and rate manuals and other changes to ensure compliance with insurance regulations and statutes and company goals.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience with programming and the use of data analysis tools. SAS experience preferable.
  • Progress in the Society of Actuary exams, demonstrating significant progress toward the Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation, preferred.
  • Typically requires at least two years' experience as a Shelter Life Actuarial Analyst with good performance, or equivalent experience outside of Shelter.
  • Excellent skills in advanced mathematics, probability, and statistics.
  • Good organization skills and knowledge of data processing for development and maintenance of information systems and procedures.
  • Significant experience in Excel, Access, or other similar data management software.
  • Must become familiar with or be willing to learn data management and reporting facilities of pricing and financial analysis software.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
