Mark Farrell PhD FIA
Director/Actuary
Mark is a Fellow of the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries with more than 23 years of global experience working in the actuarial profession. He has worked internationally in the fields of pension consulting, life insurance, actuarial recruitment and in academia as a Senior Lecturer in Actuarial Science.
Mark has a PhD in finance and is a Fulbright Scholar. He has consulted on various actuarial projects, carries out actuarial science research and has published in numerous actuarial and finance journals and publications.
He has also received various actuarial prizes and is the Director of the Actuarial Science MSc programme at Queen’s University Belfast.
Suzanne Farrell
Director/Psychologist
As a Director at ProActuary, Suzanne has managed a number of large global projects focusing on career and professional development for actuarial professionals and students.
With her background working as a psychologist Suzanne loves working collaboratively to provide the best solutions at an individual and organisational level.
John Nicholas FASSA
Actuarial Consultant
John is a South African qualified actuary with 10 years’ experience in pricing and product development, with a particular focus on rewards programmes, life insurance and investments. John has worked with ProActuary since 2022 and is passionate about people and mentoring teams. John also writes a weekly newsletter about the creator economy and entrepreneurship.
Rosario Pogoy
Business Support Specialist
Rose has worked with ProActuary since 2019 and is a valuable member of our team. She manages many aspects of ProActuary including design, social media, and technical website issues. Rose has a BSc in Information Technology and helps to ensure the smooth running of our website and our online events.
ProActuary also works with a small team of amazing actuaries, consultants and content creators from around the world. We could not do what we do without them, as we work together to turn innovative ideas into solutions for actuaries.

Richard Galbraith
Advisory Board Member
Richard is a a Fellow (FIA) of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), and a CERA credential holder. He has over 20 years experience in the actuarial profession, and has worked in a wide variety of functions.
Richard is passionate about the sustainable global development of the actuarial profession, and spends a large amount of time working with the IFoA and International Actuarial Association on these areas, and presenting around the world on Professionalism and other topics. He has been drawn to the softer side of the actuarial profession, being a translator between technical and soft skills where he can enhance the actuarial skillset.
Richard has a very international background, and has enjoyed working in the USA, Netherlands and France as well as the UK.
Jawwad Farid
Advisory Board Member
Jawwad is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a serial founder with one cross border exit and five books to his name.
Jawwad has lived and worked in London, New York, Orange County, Leesburg, Singapore, Riyadh, Dubai, Nairobi, and Karachi.
Jawwad taught the startup boot camp at Nest I/O to 12 cohorts of founders, the Entrepreneurship elective at SP Jain Executive MBA program in Dubai as an adjunct professor for 11 years. Jawwad also served as a selector, mentor, and pitch coach for Team Pakistan at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) from 2005 to 2018. APICTA is an annual regional innovation competition featuring 200 plus participants from 22 APAC territories. During his tenure Pakistan won 53 awards, include 17 golds and 36 runners up titles at 18 APICTA categories.
Stephen Camilli
Advisory Board Member
Stephen helps actuarial science students succeed in his role as Lecturer at the University of Connecticut where he teaches life contingencies and writing for actuaries.
Previously, as President, he oversaw content creation and the overall business at ACTEX Learning, an actuarial education and publishing company.
Stephen is passionate about actuarial student success, excellent content, meaningful relationships, and work that contributes to the common good.
Ioannis Kyriakou
Advisory Board Member
Ioannis is a Reader in Actuarial Finance at Bayes Business School (formerly Cass), City, University of London. He is also the Director of the Actuarial MSc programmes at Bayes.
Prior to joining City, he worked for Lloyd’s Treasury and Investment Management. He holds a PhD in Finance from City, a master’s degree in Risk and Stochastics from LSE and a bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science from City. He holds the Diploma in Actuarial Techniques and acts as an appointed independent examiner by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries at several universities.
Ioannis is actively involved in actuarial research and currently serves as Editor for the International Journal of Finance & Economics and as Associate Editor for the Annals of Actuarial Science.
