Director - Life Reinsurance Analytics, Asia

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Regional Life & Health Reinsurance team servicing our clients in Asia. In this role, the new team member will take an integrant part in the development of our Life & Health Reinsurance business in Asia Pacific, with a focus on South East Asian and South Asian markets.

The role will consist in understanding clients' objectives and needs (financial, commercial, strategic), conducting quantitative risks and benefits analyses, structuring and pricing reinsurance transactions, as well as designing optimal reinsurance solutions, in order to meet their risk, return and capital requirements.

What the day will look like
  • A core member of Aon's APAC Life & Health reinsurance team, reporting to Life & Health Leader, Reinsurance Solutions, Asia Pacific.
  • Contribute to the development and articulation of our analytics value proposition to existing and prospect life and health re/insurance clients.
  • Conduct ad-hoc actuarial analyses for clients, in support of the client managers. This may include:
    • Apply various actuarial pricing techniques such as experience and exposure rating, to assess the cost and benefits of reinsurance arrangements and articulate the numeric observations internally and externally
    • Conduct analysis and experience studies to develop or peer review best estimates
    • Participate in product development activities
    • Perform actuarial risk assessment and valuation of clients' portfolios (VIF, NB projections) for the purpose of structuring, optimizing and pricing reinsurance
    • Explore and model various reinsurance structures to manage risk, quantify their relative costs and benefits, and assess their commercial feasibility
    • Present and explain results, conclusions and recommendations of the analyses to the relevant stakeholders (colleagues, clients, reinsurers)
  • Organize data and actuarial information for future use
  • Enhance existing tools and methodologies, research and develop new models and products
  • Lead reinsurance consulting projects from scoping and providing details into proposals to managing delivery and ensuring outcomes are met
  • Lead 1 Actuarial Analyst under direct reporting line


Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • Candidates with Fellow in Actuarial Studies, or related fields such as mathematics, finance or statistical studies preferred.
  • Seasoned experience in Life & Health reinsurance or insurance industry working in analytical roles, direct re/insurance pricing experience and/or valuation, capital modelling/management is required
  • Strong software skills
  • Attach a prominent importance to the quality, completeness and accuracy of its work.
  • Self-motivated, holds oneself accountable and takes ownership for problem resolution
  • A team player - able to adapt in a dynamic team environment. Able to lead, guide and train junior colleague(s).
  • Ability to travel within the Asia region to facilitate client presentations, seminars and conferences as required.
