Job Description

Responsible for performing moderately complex calculations, analysis and actuarial research used for actuarial analysis with limited direct supervisory review. Actuarial analysis can include but not limited to valuations, financial reporting and forecasting, trend analytics, and pricing.

Perform moderately complex actuarial analyses and calculations using knowledge and demonstrated application of actuarial methods and practices, determining priorities and procedures.

Ensure completeness, accuracy and appropriateness of all insurance data used in the production of outputs; recommend improvements to data as needed.

Independently identify actuarial problems and associate actions and solutions; consider internal, external and customer impacts. Independently communicate to stakeholders.

Assess and implement efficiency enhancing processes where available.

Respond to requests from internal departments; prioritize and review work of peers.

May provide technical guidance to less experienced professionals and technicians.

Remain current on actuarial techniques, seek development and improvement opportunities and understand corporate/ cross-functional objectives and cultural beliefs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in actuarial science or related area.

Three (3) years actuarial experience. Preference to have at least one year of BCN/BCBSM actuarial experience or comparable experience at another company.

Earned at least three (3) course credits towards the attainment of the FSA designation and is a member, in good standing, of the Actuarial Development Program.

Knowledge of actuarial methods and practices used to perform moderately complex actuarial analyses and calculations.

Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to apply appropriate planning and prioritization techniques.

Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.

Departmental Preferences

Medicare experience a plus.
