This is an entry level position for an aspiring actuary. An actuarial assistant supports actuaries by collecting and analyzing data, performing calculations, and assisting with the development of insurance plans. They may also help prepare reports, communicate with clients, and contribute to risk assessment and financial forecasting activities. The successful candidate will be expected to make progress toward attaining the status of Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) through the Society of Actuaries' education program. The Company will provide exam support.

In this role, you will...
  • Assist VP, Chief Actuary with traditional actuarial functions such as pricing, reserving, and product development
  • Assists with the preparation of documents for rate filings for submission to state regulatory agencies
  • Assists with statistical analysis to assess and manage risk and estimate financial outcomes
  • Collects, organizes, cleans, and maintains data related to insurance claims, policyholders, and other pertinent information
  • Prepares reports documenting actuarial analyses, findings, and recommendations and manages various clerical support tasks
  • Records and tracks accruals, claims, and settlements
  • Collaborate with actuaries and other team members to conduct research and analysis on emerging trends and industry developments
  • Stay current with advancements in actuarial science, technology, and industry best practices through continuous learning and professional development
  • Support other finance department functions including underwriting, financial reporting and/or analysis, and planning/forecasting
  • Perform other duties as assigned

We are looking for candidates with...
  • Bachelor's degree in math, statistics, actuarial science, or related field, or a combination of education and experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, and Access database software
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Knowledge of statistical modeling techniques
  • Familiarity with actuarial principles and concepts preferred
