Aviva Canada is looking for a passionate individual who are interested in joining the Reserving team as Actuarial Manager. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for leading the quarterly reserve review, communicating the financial insights to key stakeholders, as well as exciting projects around the design and implementation of more efficient reserving processes and reporting tools.

What you'll do:
  • Analyzes the adequacy of the company's claim reserve levels by application of both standard actuarial techniques and the sophisticated reserving modelling using machine learning techniques.
  • Supports the Quarterly Reserve Committee and Year-end Valuation reports.
  • Maintains monitoring reports for both internal and external reporting.
  • Provides insights regarding the company's financial performance from a reserving point of view.
  • Builds a close relationship with company-wide partners and connect with the business partners in understanding the reserve impact on their respective portfolio.
  • Develops improvements in current process to improve efficiency.


What you'll bring:
  • FCAS/FCIA and 5+ years of P&C actuarial experience or 10+ years of experience and expertise equivalent to an FCAS.
  • Reserving experience is an asset.
  • Degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong team player who is also able to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - ability to establish and maintain good working collaborations with various departments.
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through the technical implementation details while appreciating the big picture.
  • Strong technical knowledge with MS Excel and VBA.
  • Experience with SAS, SQL and Python is an asset
