Job Title: Head of Actuarial Systems

Job Type: Permanent

Location: This role could be based in either our Wythall or Edinburgh offices with time spent working in the office and at home.

We are seeking to recruit a Head of Actuarial Systems with experience of designing and developing end to end actuarial reporting systems and proficiency in Cloud based Actuarial Valuation platforms to lead our dynamic team

We're currently delivering a significant project to reshape our Actuarial systems landscape and build a more efficient end-to-end process that maximises the use of automation and cloud technology. The Head of Actuarial Systems will be involved leading the transition of this investment

The role

In this newly created role you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for Actuarial Systems and working across our portfolio of projects to deliver changes to our Actuarial Valuation platform and reporting systems. You will also act as a project sponsor and/or senior representative on a number of strategic projects. The role will involve leading a multi-disciplinary team of architects, actuaries, software engineers, testing and release management specialists to successfully deliver complex change that aligns with the evolving needs of the Actuarial reporting teams and the strategic change agenda.

Key Responsibilities:

You will work with system Actuarial Product Owners to define, implement and maintain the Actuarial Systems Strategy in support of the LifeCo and group project agenda. You will also work with Senior Leadership in Actuarial and Finance to manage and prioritise the inbound demand for change and development from projects and BAU teams.

Establishing strong relationships across the business the role will lead and develop the Actuarial Systems teams as well as establish and embed best practice standards across systems design, development, testing and deployment

What are we looking for?

A senior qualified Actuary or equivalent by experience you will have a proven track record in successfully leading an Actuarial Systems team. You will have demonstrable leadership and influencing skills as well as excellent problem analysis and resolution skills. Experience of actuarial modelling systems specifically experience of asset / liability modelling for Life & Pensions business including with-profits, ERMs and Bulk Purchase Annuities would be advantageous.

You will ideally have an understanding of Azure DevOps, source control methodologies and experience with CI/CD processes combined with exposure to regulatory reporting including Solvency II plus knowledge of IFRS-17

While prior experience in the life insurance industry is preferred, it is not a strict requirement, as we are looking for a strong technology, delivery and team management aptitude
