Job Summary

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Purdue University Fort Wayne invites applications for a tenure track position in Discrete Mathematics to start in the Fall 2024 semester. Applicants for this position should hold or expect to have completed a Ph.D. in mathematical sciences or related field by Fall 2024. The search committee will be interested to hear if any candidates have research interests in Coding Theory, Combinatorics, Cryptography, Graph Theory, Network Science. The successful candidate will teach courses including but not limited to discrete mathematics at the undergraduate and graduate level, as well as other undergraduate mathematics courses such as calculus and linear algebra, and will conduct scholarly work leading to publication. New members are expected to further enhance the departmental reputation for excellence in teaching and research. Appropriate department and university service is also expected. Rank is at the Assistant Professor level. The salary and fringe benefits are competitive.

The Department

The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers a master's program in Mathematics, a post-baccalaureate Certificate in Applied Statistics, and bachelor's programs in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Data Science and Applied Statistics, and Mathematics Teaching. The department also has a strong Center of Excellence in Applied Mathematics and Statistics. The Department of Mathematics is committed to advancing diversity in all areas of faculty effort, including research, teaching, and service/engagement.
