Job Summary Independently uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to prepare actuarial reports and provide analysis to support client needs. Evaluation, originality and ingenuity are required to locate, select and apply appropriate procedures, processes and techniques to specific assignments. Uses mathematics, statistics, and financial theory to assess risk and communicate results to a diverse set of parties. Regular contact with senior management and other internal and external customers is required to identify, research, and provide recommendations to minimize the cost of risk. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Perform valuation services for pension and post-retirement medical plan • Prepare plan design alternatives for pension and post-retirement medical plan • Prepare and present key findings to clients and other interested partie • Perform project tasks independently • Participate in the development of deliverable content that meets the needs of client • Anticipate client needs and formulate solutions to client issue • Prepare deliverables with accuracy and quality • Provide coaching and mentoring to junior staff • Manage personal and professional development; seek opportunities for professional growth and expansion of consulting skills and experience Qualifications: Knowledge of • Advanced statistics, modeling and actuarial software experience (ProVal experience preferred) • Experience performing benefit calculation • Proficient in and ability to develop spreadsheets, databases and/or other statistical analysis tool Skill in • Identifying patterns and trends in complex sets of data to determine the factors that have an impact on outcome • Ability to use and develop spreadsheets, databases, and statistical analysis tool • Excellent researching ability with a focus on synthesizing information to reach a supportable conclusion from varying resource Ability to • Explain complex technical matters to those without an actuarial background • Communicate clearly both in writing and verbally describing work and making conclusions and/or recommendation • Reconcile and validate complex demographic and economic data set Education/Previous Experience • Minimum 5 years of experience in relevant field, single employer and multiemployer pension plan actuary experience preferred • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or other technical related field Licenses/Certifications • FSA, ASA, and/or EA actuarial designation or similar • Member of the American Academy of Actuaries preferred Travel Required: Yes, 10 % of the Time For more information about Raymond James & Associates (RJA) and Northwest Plan Services (NWPS), please visit: https://www.nwpsbenefits.com/ About NWPS: Acquired by Raymond James on December 24, 2020, NWPS Holdings, Inc. and its wholly-owned subsidiaries doing business as NWPS and Northwest Plan Services provide retirement plan administration services, recordkeeping, consulting, actuarial, compliance and participant services.
