The Risk Management Consultant at Munich Re do Brasil uses all relevant risk management practices, tools, and methodologies available at MR Group. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to support the local Internal Controls Officer and Local Management Board on the identification and assessment of relevant risks of the local subsidiary as well as the Munich Re Group. Based in São Paulo and reporting to the Internal Controls Officer, the Risk Management Consultant is a key function to enable the effective and consistent Group-wide management of financial and non-financial risks. Non financial risks include operational risks, information security risks, third-party risks, and business continuity risks. The role will focus on risk management activities with support from the local actuarial function.

Your Job:

  • Assess underwriting, credit, market, and operational risks in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Analyze other relevant risks, based on predefined criteria
  • Evaluate specific risks, such as business continuity, liquidity, and ESG risks
  • Calculation of capital requirements, based on regulatory requirement
  • Development of ORSA (Own Risk and Solvency Assessment), in collaboration with the Actuarial department
  • Contributing to the implementation, maintenance and ensure strict adherence to the Risk Management framework, policies and processes, aligning with regulatory and MR Group requirements
  • Maintain the risk management strategy in alignment with the overall business plan
  • Uphold the defined risk appetite to support organizational goals
  • Foster and disseminate a robust risk culture within the company
  • Promoting risk management principles and communicating and raising awareness with staff members;
  • Report and define measures for operational loss event
  • Maintain effective communication with local Board, MR Group, Audit and Risk Management Committees
  • Implement recommended actions and strategies proposed by the Group
  • Periodically and as needed, address and report significant matters to the Internal Controls Director, the Board of Directors, and the Risk Committee


Your Profile:

  • Understanding of the Risk Management and Capital requirements of the insurance/reinsurance sector
  • Knowledge of insurance/reinsurance regulations
  • Knowledge of Internal Controls
  • Knowledge of Actuary, Information Security, and ESG is a differential
  • 5+ years' experience with actuarial or risk management preferably in an insurance or reinsurance company, or consulting/audit firm.
  • Willingness to expand knowledge in the field of information security
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Business-fluent written and spoken English
  • Project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple work packages and stakeholders simultaneously and prioritize accordingly
  • Strong pro-active, hands-on attitude
  • Ability to think strategically and work conceptually
  • Outstanding academic profile with a university degree in Actuarial, Business Administration, Accounting or equivalent preferred
