Job Purpose

Performs advanced research, development, and activities related to the application of actuarial principles for insurance/finance.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Sets and achieves goals and meets deadlines for actuarial projects.
  • Communicates with management on project status, concerns, etc. Leads projects as required.
  • Conducts and leads advanced analysis in one or more of several areas, including product development, financial modeling, financial reporting, risk analysis, and data analysis.
  • Applies relevant actuarial principles and standards of practice to work product.
  • Serves as a role model for and assists with the development of other actuarial staff.

  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of advanced actuarial principles and standards of practice in order to apply to work product.
  • Ability to train or assist peers.
  • Advanced ability to use various computer applications and technical tools.
  • Sense of urgency and excellent follow through.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple top priorities accurately and in a timely manner, and the ability to change priorities as needed.
  • Must be a proactive, creative, flexible and deductive thinker.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Possess excellent communication skills.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or related field of study required.
  • 2+ years of actuarial experience required.
  • 3+ years of actuarial experience preferred.
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) required.
  • Commitment to attaining the Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation required.
