The Opportunity:

We are currently recruiting for an Associate Health Consultant. This is a hybrid position and the candidate will be located in Toronto .

The role offers opportunity to apply and develop business management skills by supporting the delivery of a broad and diverse range of group health benefits consulting services to our clients. This role offers visibility, client interaction, and the opportunity to learn about the emerging areas of the health benefits field through participation in varying projects.

The Role:

As an Associate Health Consultant, you will work collaboratively with Client Relationship Managers (CRMs) and other health benefit consultants and analysts to provide objective analyses of service provider offerings available in the marketplace. This includes insurance company employee benefit offerings for Extended Health, Prescription Drugs, Dental, Vision, Disability, Stop Loss, and Life Insurance, as well as wellness and member assistance programs. Associate Health Consultants perform at a high level of proficiency doing and reviewing analytical work, as well as interacting with representatives outside of the organization. In addition, the Associate Health Consultant will collaborate with peers on financial analyses, projections, actuarial valuations and other projects.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Manage vendor procurement assignments (RFPs) on behalf of our clients, within budgets.
  • Analyze each vendor's response from both a quantitative and qualitative perspective.
  • Develop familiarity with unique vendor programs and how they vary from their competition.
  • Interact with CRMs in establishing the scope for new projects.
  • Support CRMs with presentations and other deliverables to clients.
  • Work with and analyze complex data to include demography, claims experience, financial performance, cost-effectiveness, budget projections, renewal analysis, and/or other benefits related issues.
  • Work on ad hoc reports and projects.
  • Prepare reports and memoranda communicating results of analysis to consultants and client.
  • Review work completed by other health benefit analysts for accuracy, completeness, and quality.
  • Develop relationships with vendor and client representatives.
The Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience and market knowledge within a consulting/professional service-related environment and/or insurance carrier.
  • Completion of 4 actuarial exams (preferred).
  • Life and Accident & Sickness Insurance License (preferred).
  • Possess health & welfare benefit plan knowledge along with strong underwriting and project management skills.
  • Multiemployer benefit plan experience (a plus).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral/written) skills and requisite software and computer skills.
  • Keenly interested in developing their professional knowledge/skills outside the work environment.
