We have an exciting opportunity for a new role as a Pricing & Reserving Analyst to join our Financial Planning & Analysis team, within the Finance department based at our registered office in Holgate, York, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This role has the option of hybrid working depending on location of the successful candidate. Typically at present 1 - 2 days in the office, but flexible depending on location.

Reporting into the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis, the role will use actuarial and statistical techniques to build insights informing both business strategy and financial reporting and help influence decision-making on future subscriptions.

  • Use historical claims and exposure data, market intelligence and supplier input to identify trends and patterns to estimate reserves and predict future financial performance.
  • Develop short and long-term claims forecasting methodologies to understand and predict trends, using actuarial analysis and sensitivity testing to inform decision making on subscriptions and benefit changes.
  • Develop and refine reserving methodologies to ensure accuracy and in line with best practice.
  • Develop monitoring methodologies to provide early warning of advance trends.
  • Support the pricing that the Society needs to charge to maintain its viability, particularly as we develop the business into multi price offering.

Skills & Experience required :-
  • able to demonstrate previous experience in an actuarial analyst role in either a pricing and or reserving function
  • Exam requirement - Certified actuarial analyst or qualified actuary or has equivalent experience with pricing/underwriting or reserving models.
  • Excel and model building skills
  • Programming language desirable but not essential (Python)
  • Communication skills - able to put together presentations and papers for a executive/board level audience
  • Team player - able to interact with people at different functions and levels
