Gen Re currently offers an excellent opportunity for a Valuation Actuary - Group and Health. This is a fully remote role.

Role Description

We are seeking a skilled actuarywith 2-5 years of experience to join our team as a U.S. Group and HealthValuation Actuary. The Actuary will be responsible for performingactuarial valuations and analyses related to group and health insurance products. In addition, the Actuary will contribute to the accurate assessment of reserves, financialprojections, and other actuarial functions specific to group and healthinsurance products. This role reports to the lead actuary for Group and Healthvaluation as well provide the opportunity to work closely across other U.S. portfolioas a part of U.S. team.

Responsibility:
  • Conduct actuarial valuations, including the development and maintenance of actuarial models, to determine reserves and financial liabilities associated with group and health insurance products.
  • Analyze and interpret data to assess the profitability, risks, and performance of group and health insurance portfolios.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging practices, and regulatory changes impacting group and health insurance, and provide insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Participate in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and presentations related to the valuation of group and health products.
  • Engage in actuarial research and analysis to enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of group and health insurance valuations.

Role Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated progress in passing SOA sponsored actuarial examinations on the pathway to becoming a credentialed actuary (ASA or FSA).
  • Familiarity with actuarial principles, practices, and methodologies related to group life, group AD&D, individual disability income, Medicare Supplement, critical illness, and/or other health insurance products.
  • Knowledge of US statutory and US GAAP requirements and industry best practices, and other relevant insurance reserve methodology and requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manipulate and interpret complex data sets.
  • Proficiency in actuarial modeling software, preferably GGY-AXIS.
  • Strong technology skills including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and SQL.
  • Excellent analytical and coding skills, preferably in Python or R, proficiency in analytical and reporting tools such as Power BI, a plus.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey actuarial concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy and quality in actuarial valuations and analyses.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks and meet project deadlines

Salary Range
78,000.00 - 130,000.00 USD
