Advancing the Pricing Transformation project:
  • Transferring existing pricing models from Excel based workbooks into hx Renew, a robust tool which offers underwriting efficiencies and technical capabilities in line with Pricing Framework.
  • Developing an understanding of the existing technical pricing models and ensuring they are re-built in Renew in line with established principles and Python best practice to maintain synergies across models prior to implementation.
  • Liaising with the software provider to ensure all functionality is working correctly and all efficiencies are benefitted from.
  • Ensuring appropriate upkeep of accurate documentation for technical pricing models in the hx Renew system.
  • Integrating key data items between hx Renew and any other overlapping data driven systems.
  • Testing and validation of model functionality and results within hx Renew.

The ongoing development of the Actuarial Pricing function:
  • Developing the Pricing Framework within the Syndicate and contribute to the maintenance of Lloyd's Pricing Maturity Matrix.
  • Establishing an excellent working relationship with underwriting teams across the business to ensure their long-term support for technical pricing concepts and pricing tools.
  • Ongoing development, maintenance and cyclical validation of rating tools and pricing capabilities for all classes of business, including model documentation.
  • Working with underwriting teams to provide ad-hoc pricing support and individual case pricing in line with best practice actuarial techniques.
  • The development of portfolio management reporting to leverage data from Renew to generate new insights across all lines of business.
  • Providing relevant Renew support to Underwriting teams across the business.
  • Supporting in the preparation of:
    • accurate rate adequacy and rate change reporting, within internal MI and external reporting to Lloyd's (PMDR).
    • actuarial loss ratios for syndicate business planning, ensuring consistency of assumptions across the actuarial function.
    • relevant policy documents, papers and analysis for committee meetings and external meetings with Lloyd's and the PRA.
    • the annual Actuarial Function Report, particularly with respect to underwriting opinions.

Other
  • Proactive and positive contribution to the (Group) actuarial function with respect to culture and teamwork, contributing to the overarching objectives of the team.
  • Identifying and developing synergies within pricing across Ascot entities.
  • Demonstrate commitment to personal and team development.
  • Identifying opportunities to work more efficiently.
  • Attendance at relevant industry workshops and training.
  • Liaising with other Ascot functions as necessary, such as IT, MI, Data, Underwriting, Reinsurance and Exposure Management in order to further the objectives of the team.

Skills:

The successful candidate will have/be:
  • 2-4 years actuarial experience and desire to pursue IFoA Fellowship.
  • Experience of actuarial work principles, ideally from pricing background but not essential.
  • Proactive candidate that is able to prioritise and manage own workload.
  • Critical thinking skills - problem diagnosis and problem solving.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships across functions.
  • Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Experience in Python, hx Renew or Power BI is desirable.
  • Experience in programming languages such as C#, SQL, VBA or R beneficial but not essential.
