The Senior Risk Analyst is responsible for supporting Risk Management in the development of cost-effective risk and insurance programs which eliminate or reduce the financial impact of losses in all operational areas related to property, liability, and worker's compensation coverages. The analyst will assist in the management of an approximately $40 million budget for property and casualty exposure (1/3 program expenses and 2/3 claims expense) of the diverse operations of the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Responsibilities and other essential duties as assigned:

  • Responsible for overseeing Third Party Administrator services for claims management and loss control.
  • Advises and educates Archdiocese management and staff regarding loss exposures and loss control initiatives.
  • Effective Insurance Exposure Management
  • Coordinate collection of exposure data from internal business partners for insurance programs: General Liability, Workers' Compensation, Auto Liability, Excess Liability, Property, Fiduciary and Crime. Provide exposure information to actuary to assist Risk Manager determine budgetary impacts of actuary's reports.
  • Provide exposure information to actuary to assist Risk Manager in the review and reporting of budgetary impacts based on actuarial reports.
  • Collaborate with internal and external business partners to help with the development of an exposure database to incorporate changes in parish configuration as well as changes in insured property.
  • Insurance Program Participants and Claims Management
  • Serve as the primary insurance liaison between all Archdiocese Agencies, Parishes and Schools for day-to-day inquiries related to special events, insurance certificates, automobile changes and other insurance related matters. Educate Archdioceses agencies regarding insurance coverage and regarding loss control initiatives.
  • Supervise third-party claims administrator to insure satisfactory levels of service, most favorable outcomes, suitable reserving, and management reporting.
  • Coordinate property claims services with site evaluations by Planning and Construction department.
  • Monitor status of all claims and potential claims both as to exposure and incurred costs.
  • Manage systems for effective claims handling with consideration given to reporting procedures, investigation, evaluation, reserving and recording practices to control loss cost.
  • Participate in Loss Prevention Program implementation and ongoing operations.
  • Insurance Program Financial and Regulatory Management
  • Assist Risk Manager with budget modeling and claims analysis. Prepare procurement requirements and request invoice payment for vendor service partners.
  • Review policy documentation to ensure accuracy, timeliness and completeness, in conjunction with broker.
  • Work with regulatory agencies to maintain self-insurer privileges.


Requirements:

  • Bachelors - Business Administration a plus
  • Computer and software skills: Advanced Microsoft Office user; familiarity with RMIS.
  • Experiences as a Risk Analyst or relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Self-starter, results-oriented and ability to work independently. Suggests opportunities for continuous improvement to existing processes as well as participates in larger Risk Management, Finance department and enterprise goals.
  • Comprehensive understanding of claims management and processes.
  • Computer and software skills: Advanced Microsoft Office user; familiarity with RMIS.
  • Strong detail orientation and willingness to engage in detail as necessary, without sacrificing the overall perspective.
  • Good business acumen. Ability to synthesize data and information into key messages, implications, and recommended actions. Ability to engage in strategic thinking.
