About the Role:

Supporting the LM Re Property Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) in delivering a robust Property underwriting strategy and the development of leading underwriting capabilities. Driving consistency and product excellence across LM Re. Managing effective engagement across the LM Re business unit and with the Office of Underwriting in Global Risk Solutions (GRS).

Key Responsibilities:
• Work with the LM Re Property CUO to set, execute and monitor underwriting strategy for Property lines, including Treaty Property, Marine, Agriculture and Parametrics.
• Lead the work required to set and maintain LM Re's target Property portfolio. This is focused on building an optimized portfolio which meets LM Re and GRS goals. Bringing together insights and analysis from actuarial, underwriting, CAT modelling and other areas of expertise, both internal and external.
• Support the Property CUO in developing recommendations for capacity allocation across classes, sub products and regions, including managing an adequate process for risk limit setting.
• Support the Property CUO in setting out underwriting guidelines and authority.
• Liaise with actuarial, underwriting, claims, exposure management to ensure strong feedback loops are in place in LM Re for all Property lines.
• Support the Property CUO in their engagement with the GRS Office of Underwriting
• Represent LM Re Property on the Exposure Management Working Group, providing expert input and representing underwriting requirements.
• Support the Property CUO in managing the LM Re Property Forum, with robust cascade into the LM Re and GRS Underwriting Council. Making sure the Forum adequately covers product and market insights, including technical expertise and emerging topics or trends, to drive effective portfolio decision-making and cycle management.
• Ensure continued advancement of Property underwriting capability, including determining prioritized development needs for pricing, modelling and data investments and represent those requirements to associated governance forums or stakeholders.

Skills and Experience:
• Strong technical property reinsurance expertise gained either through prior underwriting roles or through a property-specific analytical, actuarial or modelling background.
• Good knowledge of property reinsurance market and current key market themes and emerging risk topics
• High level of understanding of commercial property & casualty reinsurance operations; finance and actuarial concepts; regulatory environment and portfolio management
• Skills required include analyzing and problem solving; adaptability; decision making, building relationships; working effectively with others.
• Excellent time management and communication skills.
• High performing, self-driven team player.
• Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative relationships and effectively work as part of a broader global / organizational team.
• Ability to smoothly adapt strategies and enact mid-course changes to achieve business results.
