Gen Re currently offers an excellent opportunity for an Actuarial Associate within our Corporate Actuarial Services in our Stamford, CT office. This is a hybrid role.

Role Description

The Actuarial Associate is responsible for assisting in the estimation of IBNR reserves and experience report analysis in support of the Corporate Actuarial mission. In addition, the Actuarial Associate will communicate with Line of Business teams to explain and understand results and will work with the Finance Department in support of Financial, Statutory, and Management reporting requirements.

The following are the primary accountabilities of the position:
  • Understanding of IBNR calculation system and reserving methods used within the department.
  • Perform reserving analyses for specific lines of business, including communicating results with Underwriters, Marketing and Claims staff.
  • Successfully complete special studies as needed.
  • Continue to pass actuarial examinations.
  • Assigned projects such as: lines of business studies, loss development reviews, discounting, profitability, account specific IBNR, etc.
  • Support development and maintenance of reserving software and processes.
  • Support financial and management reporting activities.

Role Qualifications and Experience
  • University degree is required. Prefer a major course of study in actuarial science, statistics or mathematics.
  • Passage of one or more Casualty Actuarial Society exams.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Organizational ability and attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal/critical-thinking skills.
  • Capacity to work in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated and willing to learn.
  • Prefer knowledge of statistical modeling packages, programming languages, and spreadsheets/databases.
  • Experience with Excel, Access, etc. SQL, VBA, and R knowledge highly desirable.

Salary Range
63,000.00 - 84,000.00 USD
Theannual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around theU.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials,education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance,skills and/or training.
