Description

What does your job as a Risk Analyst look like?
As Risk Analyst, you'll be part of the Financial & Insurance Risk Management team that is responsible for managing the risks inherent to NN's insurance business. More specifically, you would be part of the Capital Management team whose mission is to inform and recommend the management team on how to define and maintain a sound and robust capital position. This is achieved by providing high quality asset data and risk reporting, ensuring that value creation is made within NNIB's risk appetite and proposing a prudent and sustainable dividend plan via capital projections and scenario analysis. In your role you will perform various analysis on asset market value movements, solvency capital requirements (with a focus on market risk and counterparty risk), liquidity risk, asset and liability management (ALM) as well as on key capital indicators directly used by top management in their decision making.
  • As a junior analyst, you contribute to the reporting on assets and key capital indicators. You will help the team in improving parts of the processes via automation (Python or VBA). You will also work as a team on specific risk assessments (e.g. Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA), Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA), etc.) or other internal projects (market valuation/projection tools, data controls, etc.)
  • You are working in close collaboration with various other teams within NN Insurance Belgium (liability valuation team, value creation team, portfolio manager, etc.) and NN Group.

What else can you expect?
  • An exponential learning curve as you will be part of a team of experts happy to mentor and share their knowledge and keen on receiving new ideas and support in their analysis.
  • Space to grow in the function and progressively (at your pace) work closely with senior and top management by reporting directly to them about financial movements, strategic developments and growth opportunities.
  • A wide scope of topics giving you a good understanding of the balance sheet of an insurance company and its financial risks, its assets valuation and sensitivity to market variations, its capital projections and dividend process.

This is how you fit perfectly into our team
  • A university degree in a quantitative subject (economics, mathematics, physics, actuarial or engineering sciences)
  • Preferably 2 years of professional experience in a related job domain
  • A good understanding of the various financial instruments and asset classes
  • You like algorithmics and like writhing code to automate processes. You are not afraid of discovering new systems and new software in order to help the company to become future ready. You have experience with Python.
  • You speak and write fluent English and Dutch or French
  • A proficient knowledge of Python is a plus
  • Although numbers excite you, going through financials all day will not be enough. The work you will be doing requires a high degree of teamwork. The ideal addition to the team will be a supportive and assertive person who has good communication skills. You enjoy helping other people and your own curiosity does not prevent you from asking for help yourself to expand your knowledge.
