Salary: £65,000 - £95,000 + up to 10% bonus per annum

Working Location: Milton Keynes / London / Home-Based

Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent

We're seeking two Capital Actuarial professionals to support our innovative Capital team, driving the business' integration of NHBC's recently established Economic Capital Model delivering real value and insights to business decisions and future strategy. Responsibilities

What you'll be doing
  • Actively contribute to enhancing the team's capital modelling and analysis capabilities, ensuring we stay at the forefront of innovation.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the NHBC Economic Model, contributing to its evolution, calibration, and effective operation.
  • Provide critical analyses of capital requirements and their impact on crucial business decisions, from reinsurance strategies to scenario modelling.
  • Play a key role in generating capital requirement projections for business planning, supporting NHBC's financial resilience.
  • Collaborate closely with your team to achieve shared objectives, furthering the development of NHBC's financial risk and capital management capabilities.


The ideal candidate will have
  • Experience calculating, reporting, and using regulatory and economic capital requirements.
  • Technical experience of capital model design, build, parameterisation, documentation and production of capital metrics.
  • Technical experience of communication of capital metrics to inform decision-making.
  • Experience of SII and ORSA modelling.
  • Strong and broad experience of actuarial work related to capital gained in a general insurance company or consultancy.
  • Knowledge of actuarial techniques, market practice, relevant legislation and insurance market environment, awareness of emerging market developments.
  • Experience with capital modelling software (eg Tyche, Igloo, Remetrica etc.)


Education and Qualifications
  • Relevant degree for actuarial work (minimum 2:1)
  • 'Qualified by experience'
  • Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries - desirable
