Position Overview

We are seeking an individual to work as an Associate within the Asia FIG team focused on Retirement Solutions & Structuring. This team supports the growth of our Retirement Services business across both Apollo and Athene through the analysis and development of targeted solutions for insurance companies spanning reinsurance, asset management, and M&A. The successful candidate will possess strong quantitative skills, a solid understanding of Asia insurance liabilities, accounting frameworks, and capital regimes, familiarity with asset portfolio optimization approaches, and be able to synthesize complex analysis into digestible presentations for key stakeholders and clients.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Support all phases of transaction process from initial screening and ideation to bidding, contract negotiation, closing and ongoing management.
  • Create pricing models for proposed transactions with support from Athene's global pricing resources.
  • Analyze due diligence materials including Actuarial appraisals, information memorandums, policy forms, insurance cash flows; reconcile modeled reserves and assets backing reserves and bridge between appraisals and company financial statements.
  • Contribute to the development of key inputs and assumptions within pricing models and broader transaction diligence; support ongoing process improvement to enhance quality and efficiency of analysis.
  • Lead the preparation of internal transaction documents, manage projects with oversight, and collaborate with other business units across Athene and Apollo.
  • Create materials for clients to drive new business opportunities and enhance engagement.
  • Research and be able to summarize and explain actuarial and accounting concepts; stay abreast of capital market and insurance industry activities and trends.
  • Support the ongoing monitoring and management of Apollo's strategic insurance investments in the region.


Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in the life insurance or reinsurance industry or an investment banking background with significant experience in the financial services / insurance sector
  • Ideal candidate will have meaningful experience with asset-intensive insurance pricing and/or accounting/financial reporting/capital modeling, with a strong understanding of international Solvency frameworks (e.g., HKRBC, SGRBC2, ICS)
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel; programming experience in Python (preference), R, VBA, or similar
  • Preferred designations are FSA or FIA; in absence of an actuarial designation, consideration is given to candidates that have a CFA or similar designation
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated with willingness to learn independently and develop expertise in new topics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
