Job Description

The VP, Actuarial Insights & Analytics will support the Overseas Actuarial and Finance departments with accurate and timely intelligence on drivers for performance and implement process improvements around systems and data.

This role operates on a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote) in our Philadelphia, PA office.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Engage with other areas such as Product, Finance, and Reserving and Portfolio Actuaries to develop a cohesive narrative around drivers for change in loss reserves, loss and combined ratios, and its impact on financial results
  • Produce and/or coordinate production of statistical and financial actuarial stories and reports on:
    • Case incurred losses on a monthly basis
    • Prior period development
    • Catastrophe events
    • Loss ratio comparisons to Forecast, Plan, and Prior Year
    • Actual vs Expected analysis
    • Rate change, Exposure trend, Loss cost trend
  • Support forecasting and monthly close processes, financial analysis of results and reconciliations
  • Produce accurate and clear management summaries of regional actuarial analysis and assist COG actuarial leadership in the preparation of quarterly reserve reviews to management
  • Collaborate with IT, Finance, and other relevant functional disciplines to design and manage processes aimed to gain efficiencies in collecting, aggregating and presenting actuarial information
  • Constantly review key actuarial processes and recommend improvements and innovative solutions to Corporate Actuary and Chief Actuary


Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree
  • ACAS required; FCAS preferred
  • Minimum 8 years experience in Property and Casualty Actuarial analysis and metrics
  • Excellent communication skills to actuarial and business leaders
  • Ability to extrapolate business application from data metrics
  • Must be an enthusiastic, dedicated self-starter
  • Advanced level knowledge of MS Office products - Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Ability to familiarize and data mine quickly with new software
  • Must be able to multi-task & prioritize assignments
  • Requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills
