Job Summary

Perform closing, reconciliation and prepare management and regulatory reports, ensuring full compliance with accounting standards and other relevant policies and guidelines. Study reporting requirements in accordance with current and new accounting standards (e.g., IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts) and assist in developing and updating the necessary reports in Excel and the Report writing system.

Job Description

  • Prepare and analyse management accounts and related detailed balance sheet schedules according to reporting deadlines.
  • Be involved in projects or enhancements requiring Finance's involvement and feedback.
  • Prepare OCBC and GEH forms, quarterly reconciliation reports, or other Group ad hoc reporting.
  • Prepare Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) reports such as monthly Takaful Operators Statistical System (TOSS) forms, Insurance Services Malaysia (ISM), and other regulatory reports.
  • Prepare and/or review reconciliations and analysis for daily investment transactions, IL Net Asset Value/price.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax agents, regulators, and other business associates, providing accurate information and records as requested.
  • Fully participate in monthly and financial year-end closing to ensure meeting deadlines stipulated by Group, BNM, etc.
  • Assist in system enhancements to enable reporting for IFRS 17.
  • Develop reports and financial statements in TM1, Excel, or any other systems for IFRS 17 and relevant accounting standards.
  • Assist management in explaining IFRS generated numbers.
  • Assist in reconciling IFRS 17 and IFRS 4 numbers.
  • Participate in projects and meetings requiring Finance's participation.


Job Specification

  • Recognised degree in any discipline or professional qualification in a related field, preferably in Finance/Accounting/Actuarial.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience in a similar capacity in insurance/takaful companies.
  • Well versed in the Islamic Financial Services Act, 2013 and has Shariah knowledge.
  • Good knowledge of performance metrics, internal controls and auditing.
  • Good knowledge of regulations governing the insurance/takaful industry.
  • Sound technical knowledge in Takaful/insurance indusrty.
  • Strong business acumen and sense of urgency.
  • People-oriented and customer-focused.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • IT literate and proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Good coordination skills and team player.
