We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Actuarial Analyst II - Reserving. In this role, you will play a key part in completing actuarial reserve analyses, providing crucial recommendations to executive leadership, and supporting organizational goals through effective reserving strategies.

What does an ACTUARIAL ANALYST do?

  • Conduct in-depth actuarial analyses of data and trends to provide recommendations for reserves adequacy and pricing.
  • Retrieve, query, and aggregate data from various sources for analysis.
  • Validate data and create reports for results analyses.
  • Research and analyze various data types to produce reserve estimates.
  • Complete quarterly reserve analyses, including data validation, trends analysis, and collaboration with Claims teams.
  • Analyze reserves in conjunction with internal and external influences.
  • Prepare and review reserving-related reports and manage communications with partner teams.
  • Participate in peer reviews to ensure quality work and increase collaboration.
  • Document assumptions, methods, sources, and considerations systematically.
  • Partner with leadership in team strategy, process improvements, and new methodology research.
  • Prepare actuarial briefings with the support of senior actuarial analysts and leadership.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Actuarial Analyst I roles.


What is required?

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree, with preference in a quantitative analytical field such as Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Finance and Economics.

  • Completion of at least three actuarial exams.


Experience:

  • Three or more years of Property/Casualty Insurance actuarial reserving work experience with working knowledge of actuarial reserving methods is required.


Other skills and abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of actuarial ratemaking principles, reserving theories and techniques.
  • Experience collaborating on cross-functional team projects.
  • Demonstrable skills in performing mathematical calculation; strong computer skills, specifically in databases and spreadsheets, including SAS VBA/SQL.
  • Exposure to Arius reserving software a plus.
  • Familiarity in programming using R, Python or other comparable language.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. with the ability to effectively plan work for multiple projects.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and high accuracy in work product.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Well organized and detail- oriented with high learning agility.
  • Self-motivated individual able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and contribute as part of a dynamic team
