JOB OVERVIEW:

The Senior Actuarial Analyst supports the Manager in the delivery of the Unit's objectives. He / She is required to supervise the analysts in the delivery of routine projects and to contribute significantly on special projects with the guidance of the Manager / Senior Manager.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist the Senior Managers and/ or Manager with the preparation of draft reports and actuarial communications on behalf of the department.
2. Manage/ oversee the following departmental projects including the delivery of well documented results but not limited to:
• Monthly Reserve Reports including analyses of movements over the period
• Quarterly capital adequacy calculation
• Experience investigations
• Derivation of interest rate assumptions
• New product pricing
• Product profitability reporting
• Company budget projections
• Production of statutory reports, enforce statistics and other routine reports
3. Provide technical guidance to the analysts in the development of the pricing and valuation models.
4. Provide training to the analysts as identified by the Manager / Senior Manager.
5. Undertake advanced model development functions including testing and documentation.
6. Review and sign off on specially priced cases, update quotation spreadsheets and individual policy calculations.
7. Drive improvements to the quotation process wherever possible.
8. Perform non-routine actuarial calculations as required.
9. To perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the Manager, Senior Manager or Executive.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• 3 - 5 years' experience in a similar role with a minimum of three (3) years in the Life Insurance industry.
• Basic knowledge of relevant corporate issues, legislation, actuarial standards and processes.
• First Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or a related field from a recognized tertiary level educational institution.
• 5 CXC/CSEC passes including Mathematics and English Language.
• 2 A Level/CAPE subjects.
• LOMA 280, 290 and ACS 100 and all related parts.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:

As a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

The Senior Actuarial Analyst must be technically sound and possess excellent problem solving and analytical skills. The individual must be logical, methodical and solutions oriented and have a strong sense of ownership to execute on assigned tasks/ projects. He/ she must display strong team working/ building skills as well as be able to guide, coach and mentor junior team members with a view to achieving departmental and organizational goals. The incumbent must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, unquestioned integrity and be forward thinking.
