THE ROLE

Based in Bermuda, the Pricing Actuary is a key member of the leadership team reporting to the Chief Actuary. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining actuarial models supporting the evaluation of new reinsurance transactions, and the timely management of client RFP processes including the preparation of reinsurance proposals. In addition, you will support the Chief Actuary in transaction structuring, treaty negotiations, and new business acquisition initiatives. You will also work closely with the CIO on ALM strategies for new transactions.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop liability assumptions based on sound actuarial principles to support pricing
  • Communicate key deal-specific assumptions, structures, risks, and profitability metrics to senior management
  • Support in the development and maintenance of effective guidelines and controls for the Company's underwriting and pricing process
  • Establish and maintain relationships with prospective clients and intermediaries to support the Company's growth objectives
  • Ensure an accurate transition and smooth integration of pricing models into the Company's corporate model framework


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
  • 10+ years of life and annuity insurance and/or reinsurance experience
  • Familiar with US life and annuity product designs and features
  • Experienced MG-ALFA user and/or similar Actuary software
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of summarizing and communicating complex topics clearly and succinctly across all levels and functions of the organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative style
  • Comprehensive actuarial modeling skillset
  • Intellectually curious with an entrepreneurial approach
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage workload with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to be a team player, assisting where needed across various corporate functions to achieve operational goals


PREFERRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Asset-liability risk management experience
  • US GAAP accounting knowledge relevant to the life reinsurance business
  • Experience with the Bermuda solvency framework and Economic Balance Sheet
  • Life and annuity product development and pricing experience
