Purpose
This is a key role in the innovation and development of our actuarial services that focus on our member and operational services. The opportunity this role presents is one which combines the rigour of an actuarial approach and skill set to build an efficient, progressive and ambitious member operational service provision.
This role provides opportunities to shape, build and assist in the deployment of longer term strategic and tactical actuarial and data led builds to support the growth ambitions of the DB Operational Service Area's.

Job Role Accountabilities
  • Manage the actuarial testing and sign-off for new schemes loaded to automation
  • Data Quality and Governance: Maintain data quality and integrity throughout the calculation process, follow data governance standards and procedures, escalate and resolve data issues and risks, liaise with internal and external parties to ensure data accuracy.
  • Process Improvement and Innovation: Improve and innovate the calculation process, enhance efficiency, quality and customer experience, support the automation tool and other systems and tools, provide feedback and suggestions, test and validate new or updated calculation functionality and methodologies.
  • Provide direction for standard and non-standard member option calculations
  • Prepare/check internal sign off documentation for each quotation as required following agreed sign off process
  • Provide checking support for manual member option calculations
  • Develop a deep knowledge of all systems and tools used our actuarial and operational teams.
  • Proactively drive projects forward to ensure they are progressed in line with expected timescales.
  • Actively assist in development of junior DB team members through training and knowledge sharing


Qualifications
  • Obtained FIA qualification


Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Excel
  • Good interpersonal, team working and leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal, and written communication, with the ability to present complex financial concepts in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Strong technical skills, deep technical knowledge of actuarial concepts particularly those underlying bulk annuity pricing.
  • Strong knowledge and awareness of the DB buy in/buy out market, life insurance and relevant regulation.

Experience
  • Good experience of working within a pension consultancy or life insurance company
