Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity available to join Legal & General Capital (LGC) as a Capital Actuary.

In this role you will support with the production and review of Solvency II Reporting for LGC - including Actuals Reporting, Monthly Forecasting and Quarterly Analysis of Own Funds and SCR. You will also ensure that processes and procedures are robust, efficient and have adequate controls in place, with developments being identified and implemented as appropriate.

You will also gain a detailed understanding of the assets held within LGC, and how these assets are valued in the Group Solvency II Balance Sheet. As well as developing strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across LGC Finance, LGC Capital Management and Group Performance.

LGC as a Division:-
  • Legal & General Capital (LGC) is the alternative investment arm of L&G, managing assets of over £8bn. It was founded in 2013 to actively invest the Group's own balance sheet into strategic businesses to enhance risk-adjusted returns for shareholders and manufacture assets for the rest of the Group.
  • In addition, the division is targeting c.£25-30bn of third-party Alternative assets under management by 2025. We are growing fast: at FY23 our alternative asset portfolio grew to over £4.5bn (up 8.5% year-on-year). In addition, LGC manages over £3.5bn of Traded and Treasury investments.
  • We focus our investment on addressing long-term trends for the benefit of the Group and society as a whole; our sectors cover Housing, Clean Energy and Specialist Commercial Real Estate), and providing today's capital through our Alternative Finance and Venture Capital strategies. LGC investment has a long-term focus. We identify areas which are economically crucial, structurally underfunded, and require long term finance well matched to the type Legal & General and its clients can provide.


Qualifications

  • A Qualified Actuary (or equivalent) with demonstrable experience.
  • A good understanding of Solvency II Principles, including Internal Model governance.
  • Knowledge of Actuarial Reporting and Analysis across various metrics.
  • An understanding of key reporting metrics including Operating Profit, ROA/ ROCE
  • Strong Excel/Financial Analysis skills.
  • Ability to apply fresh and creative thinking and to develop new strategies/outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences - both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to manage several concurrent tasks and work to tight deadlines.
  • A high level of attention to detail, and strong organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • "OneStream" skills are desirable, but not essential.
