Job Description

As an Actuarial Analyst, you will be a key member of the Finance Operations team and will be responsible for execution of key data and automation processes. You will be a key contributor to the monthly reporting process for TAL's Finance business units.

You will work in a supportive team of highly motivated individuals who are passionate about implementing change and driving operational efficiencies.

You will be working in a highly collaborative environment with your team, providing mutual support, peer-reviewing and problem-solving to contribute to the overall delivery of the team's goals and objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

Operational excellence
  • Support the execution of key Finance processes under supervision of the Manager or Senior Manager, including
    • Execution of Prophet models
    • Execution of processes to update monthly assumptions
    • Preparation, manipulation and interpretation of data
  • Develop detailed knowledge of financial reporting requirements at TAL
  • Support project and ad-hoc requests under supervision of the Manager or Senior Manager
  • Delegate and support the work of junior team members, as required

Stakeholder Engagement
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with finance, actuarial teams, and key stakeholders


Qualifications

Essential skills-
  • Tertiary qualification in actuarial studies, mathematics, statistics or equivalent relevant disciplines
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong Excel skills
  • At least 2 years of work experience in life insurance or financial services

In addition, the following competencies are required:
  • Accountability for own work
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary of team of Finance professionals
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks
  • Attention to detail

Desirable skills-
  • AASB 17 financial reporting experience
  • Exposure to FIS insurance suite of products - Prophet, DCS
  • Aptitude for learning new software tools
  • Experience in delegating to junior team members
