The Senior Director, Head of Experience Studies leads the experience studies process to develop detailed and well-governed analytics regarding customer behavior, as well as longevity expectations. The Senior Director will be accountable for understanding and reconciling data from the finance and other functions and assisting on the use of this information within actuarial modeling underlying financial reporting, capital management, ALM and regulatory reporting. This leader will use their subject matter expertise regarding retirement products and understanding of information across general and separate account products to promote best practices in the assumption setting process.

What you will do:
  • Proactively manage the experience study process to ensure quality and timeliness of all deliverables
  • Instill best practices in terms of technical aspects (e.g., credibility of data) and governance to ensure appropriateness of methodology, data validation, etc.
  • Understand and quantify behavioral analytics including key drivers and potential mitigants
  • Identify and execute process improvements relating to all existing experience studies
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders including Finance, Risk, Valuation, Actuarial Operations, ALM, Product, etc.


What you will bring:
  • Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or similar background requiring modeling, programming or quantitative analysis required
  • FSA required
  • 15+ years of actuarial experience studies and data analytics
  • Management expertise, including collaboration and leadership of international teams
  • Technical expertise, as well as exposure to predictive analytics

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to proactively manage and nurture junior resources.
  • Depth of expertise in own discipline (i.e., experience studies) and broad knowledge of retirement products.
  • Strong expertise in actuarial modeling and systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication; communication skills to influence/negotiate internally and often at higher levels
  • Extremely strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to present complex concepts and analysis to a variety of audiences including company leaders.

Base Salary Range
$132,600.00 - $192,300.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
