Responsibilities We have an opportunity for an Executive/Senior Underwriter (based upon experience) to join our Berkley Public Entity team! You will manage existing broker and client relationships and develop new relationships, resulting in premium generation. You will also work closely with our Actuarial, Claims, and Underwriting teams to understand and achieve profitability targets. Key functions include but are not limited to: Review new and renewal submissions for completeness and address any discrepancies with the broker Serves as subject matter expert Organize and aggregate loss and exposure information and input into pricing models Analyze and interpret risk data and complete an underwriting workbook for each eligible risk Work with actuarial to understand the key components of the pricing models Establish and maintain broker relationships though superior levels of service and direct broker engagement Manage referrals within guidelines Attend industry client centric events Assist with the development of new products, services, process improvements, and marketing initiatives Identify and report operational risks and areas in need of improvement Independently make sales calls to brokers and clients, and when necessary, coordinate with Executive, Underwriting, and Claims Potential opportunity to lead and manage staff Manage ad hoc projects as required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree; coursework toward applicable designation (including but not limited to CPCU, RPLU, etc.) desired 8-10+ years' experience including public entity underwriting Aptitude for complex risk analysis, underwriting and risk financing Experience with insurance and reinsurance; Commercial insurance experience Technical knowledge of professional/casualty lines of coverage Motivated to achieve financial and operational goals Excellent analytical, quantitative, financial and critical thinking skills Ability to engage personally with brokers and clients in order to fully articulate the organization's value proposition Self-directed showing personal accountability and proactive approach to job responsibilities Collaborative, team oriented, and customer focused with attention to detail Additional Company Details We do not accept unsolicited resumes from third party recruiting agencies or firms.
