Reporting to the Head of Pricing, as Senior Pricing Manager you will be responsible for technical pricing, retail pricing, and ML-based street pricing across our entire business, including Specialist Private Car, Telematics, Commercial Vehicle, and Taxi (for which we are the UK's leading insurer).

This role is ideally suited to an experienced qualified actuary (or similar) who thrives on autonomy and taking ownership of products and projects, an open approach to risk with fast-paced test-and-learn implementation, and a flat structure with senior access.

Location: London/ Hybrid

Working hours: 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5:30pm

Salary: Competitive based on experience

What you will be doing:
  • Developing and delivering Pricing strategy and technical enhancements, along with Identifying improvements to pricing structures
  • Working with large and diverse data to identify opportunities to drive performance
  • Leading R&D in areas of statistical modelling and data innovation to develop more powerful pricing models
  • Providing expert input across other product lines to drive best practice and shared learning
  • Work with the modelling manager to develop and enhance pricing capability through the implementation of new rating factors, interactions and micro-segmentation for the selected product
  • Developing and embedding technical pricing strategy, using findings from the GI market to enhance technical pricing
  • Developing and enhancing customer lifetime value methodology, working closely with the data science and data analysis teams
  • Identifying opportunities to embed insights into technical and retail pricing
  • Presenting insights and proposals to senior stakeholders, deputising for the head of pricing
  • Maintaining awareness of practical implications of pricing changes, and the impact of various pricing decisions
  • Produce insightful analyses utilising actuarial techniques, to assist the business in meeting its strategic goals
  • Competitor analysis and market activity, including researching and monitoring competitor pricing activity
  • Building proposals to compliment and assist the execution of the Acorn Pricing Strategy for the selected product

What we're looking for:
  • Experienced qualified actuary / or similarly qualified by experience
  • Experience of Emblem, RADAR, SQL, Machine Learning techniques, etc
  • Experience of working in GI retail insurance in a pricing role, preferably motor
  • Track record of managing delivering on large-scale projects involving multiple teams and pricing initiatives
  • Experience of managing and prioritising multiple priorities and analysts
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to analyse problems and challenges, and develop structured solutions
  • Desire to challenge the status quo and offer new solutions in a proactive manner
