We're looking for our next Specialist, Property Treaty. Could It Be You?
Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada is looking for a dynamic and business-oriented Specialist, Property Treaty. You will be supporting the property reinsurance portfolio and providing high-quality analysis and recommendations, consistent with the Munich Re risk appetite and guidelines. This position reports directly to the VP of the Property Treaty Department.

Underwriting
• Underwrites Property Treaty business in accordance with MROC's and Group-wide guidelines and appetite.
• Evaluates submissions, reviews treaty contracts, assesses and prices business and performs all necessary underwriting functions in order to recommend acceptance or declination and/or offer alternative terms and conditions on treaties offered to MROC.
• Stay current with all applicable UW guidelines.
• Contributes proactively to the MROC Client Teams in negotiations with cedents and brokers, identifying and developing strategies for existing clients as well as new prospects.
• Maintains contact with the industry in general by attending industry functions on a regular basis. Promotes MROC products, services and facilities and builds business relationships with cedents and provides information and advice to cedents on matters within his/her competence.
• Monitors market conditions and the activities of MROC's existing and potential cedents and reinsurance competitors and reports to Management as needed.
Actuarial & Technical Pricing
• Prepares and models property Nat-Cat data with the models used at Munich Re including RMS Risk Link as well as in-house modeling software.
• Prepares treaty reinsurance pricing independently, including assessing and discussing modeling results internally and externally.
• Contributes to the development of pricing assumptions and strategies which includes update of pricing model parameters, market analysis and other strategic projects.
• Develops or enhances concepts, methods and tools to quantify and monitor accumulation of nat-cat risks across the property treaty portfolio.
• Evaluates and calibrates internal or external catastrophe models for pricing and risk management processes.
• Leads and/or supports portfolio reviews including accumulation of risk and profitability analyses.
• Cooperates closely with various internal departments in order to develop key business insights as well as the presentation and communication of business insights to internal stakeholders.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
• Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, Access, VBA, Power BI.
• Experience with relevant modeling software such as RMS RiskLink.
• Programing knowledge (languages such as: R and SQL), and experience with data cubes considered an asset.
• Capable of carrying out actuarial analysis with minimal supervision and be self-driven to deliver business insights.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate at the right level of complexity for the audience.

In addition, we are looking for the following qualifications:
• University Degree in a relevant discipline (mathematics, statistics, natural sciences or actuarial science)
• Experience and expertise in underwriting or practical experience with cat modelling software (RMS, AIR)
• Excellent analytical and conceptual skills with a working knowledge of SQL; programming skills would be beneficial
• Builds relationships with internal and external clients in support of business objectives
• Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office products and aptitude for new computer systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as analytical, organizational and negotiation skills
• Ideally a minimum of 10 years of reinsurance/insurance experience
• Fluency in French is an asset
