Purpose of the Position

The Head of Distribution, Group Insurance will be the strategic and operational partner to the new President of Group Insurance (GI) assisting him, and his leadership team, in driving sustainable and profitable growth. This leader will drive disciplined growth in Life, Absence, Disability, Voluntary Benefits, and Medical Stop Loss with an acute focus on expanding Premier Accounts and Voluntary Benefits Market share.

This individual will have a forward-thinking, transformational mindset and be able to lead and influence at both the business unit and enterprise level.

Key Responsibilities

The Head of Distribution is responsible for leading all aspects of new sales and customer relationship management (CRM) in the National Accounts and Premier Market (middle market) segments, strategic partnerships and relationship management, as well as distribution excellence.

Manage of team of five including a Head of Sales, a Head of CRM, a Head of Strategic Partnerships, a Head of Distribution Excellence and a Head of Medical Stop Loss.
  • Ensure a decisive, outcome-oriented, customer-centric culture of accountability and ownership committed to profitable growth and enterprise goals.
  • Implement best practices and establish success metrics to ensure profitable growth and new and existing customer satisfaction.
  • Partner with product, actuarial, finance, compliance, risk, marketing, claims, operations, and vendor management to review performance and to determine appropriate changes to meet GI and enterprise goals.
  • Deliver data-driven insights to support strategic direction and business prioritization, and to drive competitive advantages.
  • Represent Prudential's capabilities in the marketplace and gather input from key external stakeholders to incorporate into strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Gather competitive intelligence to assist the business in better understanding the product landscape and market trends related to pricing, benefit offerings, marketing, market share, and customer experience.
  • Collaborate with peers in technology, operations, and product in GI and the enterprise to transform CX.
  • Lead, develop, retain, and recruit top distribution talent.

The Candidate
  • Significant, successful distribution (sales, CRM) leadership experience at scale in U.S. Group Insurance, Employee Benefits, Voluntary Benefits, Worksite, etc.
  • Strong, credible distribution reputation relationships in traditional markets and channels as well as in adjacent markets and emerging channels of customer acquisition.
  • Financial acumen and a broad understanding of the financial drivers of Group Insurance and Voluntary Benefits products and services.
  • Strategic, to include thoughtful points of view regarding new products, segments, technology, partners, etc.
