Aviva Life and Pensions Ireland are now accepting applications for the position of Head of Performance.

Reporting to the Aviva Life and Pensions Ireland (ALPIDAC) Chief Financial Officer the successful applicant for this position will play a unique and critical role in leading and driving the performance management responsibilities across the Irish business.

You will act as a key business partner to the Ireland Life CEO and Executive Committee, working closely with the wider business to drive the financial and non-financial performance of the Ireland Life business.

Day to day, this role will lead the Forecasting, Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Cost Management, Capital Planning and Management Information teams. These teams will be responsible for driving and enhancing the performance management muscle across Ireland Life, delivering insightful MI to drive action, delivery of the performance scorecard and ensuring the business executes upon its strategic priorities.

The Head of Performance is responsible for
  • Providing action orientated and forward-looking challenge to enable delivery of operational plans with clear financial targets and accountabilities,
  • Improving and automating performance MI delivering better insights for decision-making, provide strong expense management, clear and concise internal and external messaging of financial results, increasing the competitor focus and enhancing external benchmarking against peers,
  • Strategic performance monitoring and provision of proactive management information to inform ExCo decision making,
  • Taking a leading role in the management of costs - responsible for the management of the overall expense base, providing cost transparency, greater insight and cost optimisation to support organisational growth and efficiency,
  • Shaping and supporting Ireland Life Strategic delivery in close partnership with the CEO and CFO,
  • Decision making on financial targets, linked with strategic ambitions (3+ years); with regular input and challenge to ExCo decision making,
  • Leading the long and short-term financial planning process to ensure robust strategic, operational, and capital plans,
  • Supporting new business initiatives and M&A activity through provision of commercial input,
  • Maintaining close links with the wider business - working in partnership with business units and wider Executive team, to deliver improved year on year financial performance and growth.


Qualifications

Qualified Actuary and member of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland or similar international body or qualified accountant.

Skills and Experience
  • Expert understanding of the insurance industry and financials,
  • Personal impact and gravitas, relationship management and influencing skills with people at all levels with the ability to build credible working relationships,
  • Strong leadership capabilities who can empower their team and has experience of leading employees, including remote workers,
  • Ability to think both long-term strategically and operationally,
  • Good knowledge / active monitoring of external competitor landscape,
  • Good understanding of risk and control environment, and management of risk,
  • Strong decision making skills- Decisions are highly complex in nature due to high number of dependencies and the need to evaluate many moving parts with varying degrees of information,
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team through change,
  • Highly numerate and analytical with a developed capability to interpret data and establish alternatives and solutions to complex problems.
