Summary of the role

The CIO team is seeking a Vice President (VP), Investment Strategy and Planning to help lead investment strategy and planning across the overall Investments portfolio to support new business pricing across flow life, annuity, and institutional businesses. In addition, this role will be responsible for developing investment strategies to support internal and external reinsurance transactions. This is a key leadership role in the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) team that will involve ongoing interaction with senior business leaders and executive management across Corebridge.

About the role

In this key role you will:
  • Assist the Head of Investment Strategy in leading development and production of an investment strategies for new business pricing products across flow life and annuity, and non-flow institutional and group business.
  • Help develop strategic asset allocation framework to determine optimal investment allocation to align with liabilities by balancing capital, liquidity, credit quality and asset demand/supply dynamics.
  • Help develop investment strategies to support internal and external reinsurance transactions to optimize firm-wide balance sheet risk and capital
  • Oversee asset-liability matching across various investment portfolios and develop optimization strategies in coordination with various Actuarial and Finance functions
  • Regular interaction with the senior leadership group and executive leadership team.
  • Team leader of direct reports initially, expect to grow over time.


What we are looking for
  • 7-10 years of industry experience in either portfolio construction, asset allocation, finance, actuarial or related chief investment office roles.
  • Thought leadership about capital market trends as well evolution of life and retirement industry
  • Deep understanding of the asset and liability portfolio across all the major lines of business including on/offshore regulatory and capital frameworks
  • Technical understanding of US and non-US insurance regulatory frameworks
  • Leadership and executive presence to be able to influence key business outcomes across the organization. Be viewed as a vital business partner across the business.
  • Oversee highly analytical work and who is also comfortable stepping in to conduct analysis themselves as required.
  • Being able to manage multiple projects under time pressure is expected. The successful candidate will help reprioritize the deliverables in the face of competing business priorities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to senior management as well as members of the investments team.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead teams of analysts
  • CFA, or other investments credentials a plus.
