Everest Insurance (Ireland), DAC is a specialty Insurance company based in Dublin, which writes a variety of specialty insurance risks across Europe, North American and Asian markets. Everest Syndicate 2786 is a multi-line Lloyd's syndicate managed by a third-party managing agency and is fully capitalised by Everest Reinsurance. The EGM Finance & Actuarial team provides high-profile services across EGM serving key stakeholders across EGM, Everest Insurance and the wider Everest group.

Summary

The Finance function at Everest is expanding to build a stable foundation to support significant growth of the business. This role is key in supporting with this growth, reporting to the European CFO.

Key responsibilities:

The Non-Technical Finance Operations Manager is responsible for:
  • Overseeing all day-to-day non-technical operational activities within the finance remit, including vendor management, Concur (T&E), Fixed Assets, Leases, Payroll, AP & expense accounting and reconciliations.
  • Oversee monthly / quarterly expense closing calendar for FinOps to meet local, divisional and group needs.
  • Implement streamlined expense accounting processes to ensure optimal use of new ERP accounts payable module (Oracle).
  • Perform first line analysis of expenses and support management reporting and analyses prepared by FPA.
  • Support the expense budgeting process and providing commentary on actual versus budget variance analysis.
  • Developing increased efficiencies and automation in the finance operations processes and collaborating in driving process change and improvements across the finance function.
  • Overseeing the development of end to end process documentation covering key processes to support financial control.
  • Supporting the internal and external audit teams on operational finance matters.
  • Develop, implement and report on KPI's, providing relevant supporting commentaries to the audit committee / boards / senior management and external / internal auditors.
  • With international treasury, ensure optimal processes for processing payments with appropriate disbursement controls and for anticipating large receipts or disbursements.
  • Providing leadership, direction and support to finance operations team.
  • Oversee the implementation and on-going monitoring of balance sheet reconciliation dashboards ensuring commentary is provided to management on key risk areas.


Tax
  • With international tax team, ensure optimal process for expense allocations and related intercompany billing and settlement.
  • Working with group tax team and outsource providers to ensure tax submissions are accurate and submitted on time (VAT, Corporation Tax, Transfer Pricing etc).


Ad-hoc
  • Provide support to Head of Finance Operations on various projects as required.


Professional Qualifications, Education & Experience:
  • Professionally qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with post-qualified experience in an insurance accounting role.
  • Significant experience of communicating financial information to senior stakeholders.


Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload on a continual basis.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to interact constructively with senior stakeholders.
  • Highly analytical and detailed, with the ability to step away from detail to see the bigger picture and communicate high-level messages to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of Insurance accounting principles.
