Curative is reimagining health insurance - with straightforward pricing and $0 out of pocket
costs with a baseline visit. Help us create a better healthcare experience for our members by
making it easy & intuitive for them to access the care they need.
We are seeking an Underwriter II to support Curative's pricing and underwriting processes.
This role will interact directly with sales team members, account management, actuaries, and
insurance professionals and will be a key contributor as Curative expands and grows.
This role is hybrid in Austin, TX

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Calculate new business and renewal rates for complex group cases using the template
    provided based on the analysis of a group's experience, industry, location, and demographics.
  • Review new business proposal data for reasonability and accuracy.
  • Lead peer review to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of quotes.
  • Maintain underwriting department documentation, including underwriting guidelines as well as policies and procedures and training manuals.
  • Coordinate with Sales to ensure the timely delivery of quotes and serve as financial consultant on case-specific requests.
  • Develop and monitor account level claims experience reporting to perform retrospective review of rates and achieve profitability targets.
  • Track and recommend effective pricing strategies by market and product for leadership.
  • Support client contracting and account set up, including validation that terms align with quoted parameters.
  • Maintain strong relationships and lines of communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 1-3 years of commercial healthcare underwriting experience (Required)
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, risk management, economics, mathematics, statistics, economics, actuarial science, business, computer science or related degree
  • Experience with excel/google sheets
  • Experience in insurance industry, data analysis or data management a plus
  • Knowledge of SQL queries a plus
