Future focused and always one step ahead

The Opportunity

The Corporate Underwriting Associate will be a critical member of the central underwriting organization, Corporate Underwriting, responsible for the oversight and steering of our portfolio. With a high level of visibility to leadership, this role will work across multiple identify and share insights across our suite of casualty and property coverages. This role includes the opportunity to work on the most complex deals in our organization as we manage referrals and authority, but also the ability to step back and identify the portfolio-wide trends we need to proactively address to hit our top and bottom line business goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Own responsibility for centralized reporting and including portfolio management dashboards, underwriting guidelines and reference guides
  • Partner with senior Corporate Underwriting leaders on referrals, new business opportunities, underwriting guidelines and appetite refinement
  • Monitor underwriting performance across business units, identifying areas where deep dives are needed to address emerging risk issues for portfolio steering
  • Drive underwriting technical excellence through the organization by creating and maintaining a framework for consistent utilization of standardized approaches, templates and process
  • Build expert-level knowledge of all aspects of coverage language, exposure analysis, pricing, program structure, loss forecasting and credit risk management
  • Support on underwriting audits and follow-up actions
  • Participate in cross-functional strategic projects, coordinating efforts across the CU organization


Job Requirements:
  • 3+ years of insurance or reinsurance experience, preferably in an underwriting role
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to influence across cross-functional teams (e.g. claims, actuarial, finance, IT, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize effectively to meet organization priorities
  • Highly analytical with the ability to communicate technical concepts in a simple manner
  • Desire to contribute to innovative product development and experience in development of new products
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; including excel and power BI. Databricks, SQL and python preferred.
