About the Position

Reporting to the SVP & Head of US Reserving, the Senior Analyst contributes to actuarial analysis to determine necessary reserves to support company products and fulfills regulatory reporting obligations. Collaborating closely with other members of the Reserving team, the Senior Analyst will do meaningful work and have the opportunity to take on challenges to further professional growth. Additionally, the successful candidate will engage with diverse stakeholders, including Actuarial Pricing, Underwriting, Finance, and Audit, fostering valuable partnerships both internally and externally. The Senior Analyst, Actuarial Reserving, role is based on site in our midtown New York office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct reserving processes to assist in quarterly reserve calculations
  • Evaluate and consolidate various internal and external data sources to facilitate assumption reviews
  • Analyze quarterly results, providing insights into key drivers and factors behind movements
  • Collaborate with internal and external actuaries and auditors, delivering necessary data for periodic reviews
  • Prepare schedules to fulfill statutory requirements
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and Actuarial exam studies
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and management of technical solutions such as Stochastic Reserve Risk and Technical Provisions, ensuring validation and reporting
  • Liaise closely with Underwriting and Finance teams, particularly regarding reporting and product expertise development
  • Actively participate in sharing best practices and fostering communication within the Actuarial team and across departments.


Candidate Qualifications:
  • Relevant prior experience, with at least 2+ years of professional actuarial experience, loss reserving, and forecasting techniques, preferably in Property & Casualty
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to convey technical information effectively to team members and stakeholders, facilitating collaboration and informed decision-making
  • Strong technical acumen and a results-driven approach
  • Demonstrated progress through Actuarial exams (e.g., FIA, FCAS, etc.)
  • Experience within the US regulatory landscape preferred
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within teams and work independently, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines appropriately
  • Learning agility and intellectual curiosity, with a proactive drive to acquire new skills, continually enhance performance, and adapt to evolving work demands and priorities
  • Technical proficiency in data analysis and modelling; Microsoft Excel expected; familiarity with programming languages like SQL, R, or Python advantageous for handling large datasets and performing advanced statistical analysis
  • Undergraduate degree required; relevant field such as mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, economics, or finance preferred

The full-time base salary range for this position is $100,000-$120,000 per year; base salary offered may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The position is eligible for bonus and a comprehensive benefits package. This information is provided per the New York City Human Rights Law and applies only to positions in New York City.
