Job Description

The Role

Pacific Life Re is looking for a Pricing Analyst to join their Protection Pricing team in Sydney, Australia.

The Pricing Analyst will support pricing risk business across group and retail products, using their strong technical skills to help deliver sustainable competitive advantage and market leading insights for our internal and external clients.

You will work closely with others in the Protection Pricing team in Australia to ensure that quotes meet profit targets and comply with pricing and risk management standards and that appropriate processes and documentation is in place. The day-to-day work will include:
  • Contributing towards timely and accurate delivery of pricing terms to clients ensuring high technical standards of experience analyses and the drafting of high-quality pricing papers
  • Identifying, collating, and interpreting data from all relevant sources to validate and refining the pricing bases and methodologies and developing robust pricing models
  • Working closely with other functions within the business unit including Client Solutions, R&D, Corporate Actuarial, and Claims, driving improvements in insurance risk management to improve profitability and competitive positioning
  • Continuously improving pricing process, pricing model and operational efficiency to provide market best practice insight, reduce operational risk and improve automation

You'll also have the opportunity to work on all of Pacific Life Re Australia's protection product lines: mortality, TPD, income protection, and trauma within both the group and retail markets.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Recent completion of a degree in a relevant subject area: actuarial studies, mathematics, statistics
  • Currently working towards attaining fellowship status with a recognised actuarial institute (e.g. working on completing your Part I and Part II exams, or commencing Part III exams)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel/VBA, SQL, Tableau, R, Python, and actuarial modelling software is desirable
