Description

The Senior Actuarial Associate will lead the development and maintenance of actuarial experience studies, including policyholder behavior and corporate assumptions, such as expenses and capital for the Group Reinsurance business. The individual will be responsible for interpreting and analyzing pricing and sensitivity testing results. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for recommending assumptions for new business pricing in-force modeling. The Senior Actuarial Associate will be responsible for coordinating data needs with IT, as well as building data analytic tools and dashboards using Power BI and Tableau.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development and maintenance of actuarial experience studies for the Group Reinsurance business.
  • Assists with corporate assumptions, such as expenses and capital for the Group Reinsurance business.
  • Interprets and analyzes pricing and sensitivity testing results from actuarial models.
  • Builds data analytic tools and dashboards using Power BI and Tableau.
  • Supports the integration of new products into the deal pricing model framework.
  • Develops and tests actuarial modeling changes and enhancements in excel and other actuarial systems.
  • Maintains and improves appropriate control environment for modeling and reporting.
  • Creates and maintains thorough model documentation, including business requirements, test plans and ultimately release memos.
  • Supports the Actuarial team and/or other departments on an as-needed basis.
  • Willingly takes on additional responsibilities as requested in order to accomplish department and Company objectives.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to prioritize workflows, establish and meet deadlines and manage multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively in a variety of situations and respond to change in a positive manner.
  • Advanced computer skills and the ability to navigate multiple systems and programs including Microsoft Office, proprietary systems, and other technology solutions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required, including a high degree of professionalism.


Training or Work Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of actuarial work experience required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with Group Life - Basic and Optional, Voluntary Benefits - Supplemental Health, Group Universal Life, Group Whole Life from a direct writer or reinsurer required.
  • 1 year of demonstrated performance coaching experience preferred.
  • 3 year of experience with Group Life - Basic and Optional, Voluntary Benefits - Supplemental Health, Group Universal Life, Group Whole Life from a direct writer or reinsurer preferred.
  • Knowledge of VBA preferred.
  • Knowledge of SQL, Power BI or business analytic tools preferred.
  • Minimum 5 actuarial exams required.


Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree - Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Data Analytics required.


Working Conditions:

  • Business Travel: Infrequent travel (less than 5% of the time).
