The Actuarial Assistant will be critical in strengthening the pricing framework for Group LTD, STD, Life, and similar products at OneAmerica Financial. This individual will develop new processes, streamline existing tools, and perform quality analysis that will drive improvements to pricing methodologies. This role will work closely with the pricing Actuaries as well as with underwriting, sales, and compliance on pricing changes, market intelligence analysis, and regulatory filings.

This role is part of the OneAmerica Financial Actuarial Student Program and requires successful completion of requirements to earn the FSA designation in order to remain with the program. The position is rotational in that the student will move to other actuarial departments at regular intervals to further actuarial development.

What you will do:

  • Increase efficiency and accuracy of existing pricing tools and databases.
  • Provide market and experience insights on Employee Benefits products with actionable results.
  • Collaborate with Disability and Life Pricing Actuaries on manual rate reviews.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance tools for UW/Sales partners to leverage in assessing risk and competitiveness.
  • Contribute to the development of and participate in external industry surveys.
  • Assist with the regulatory rate filings process, including corresponding with state regulators to obtain approval for manual rate changes.


What you need:

  • Bachelor's degree is required. Preferred majors: actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
  • 2 SOA educational components passed (ideal)
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access) and computer programming languages (VBA, C++, Python) preferred
  • Actuarial internship preferred
  • Strong skills with data manipulation and analytics tools (Alteryx, SAS, R) preferred
  • Experience with actuarial software (Prophet, GGY AXIS) preferred

This selected candidate will be expected to work hybrid in Indianapolis, IN. The candidate will also be expected to physically return to the office in CA, IN or ME as business needs dictate or for team-building and collaboration.
