We are seeing an upbeat and experienced AVP, Quebec Retail Lead. This role will have profit & loss accountability for the Quebec retail business sold through our broker distribution channel for Personal Insurance. Reporting to our VP, of Retail Personal Insurance, leading one of the four regions of Aviva Canada's Personal Insurance broker retail portfolio.

This position is accountable for achieving profitable and sustainable growth for our Quebec region. This role will help us influence and collaborate on business strategies and tactics across all areas of the business, including our: distribution team, actuarial, pricing, analytics, underwriting, operations, marketing, communications, claims, IT and finance.

What you'll do
  • Work with the VP, Retail Personal Insurance and other business leaders to define strategies and provide execution leadership to drive profitable growth and competitiveness of Aviva Canada's Personal Insurance retail business in Quebec.
  • Act as a leader of the business to fully understand all issues and opportunities, and to develop plans, objectives and strategies for the business while communicating, collaborating, influencing and drive all functional areas to achieve optimal outcomes for the organization.
  • Build positive relationships of trust and mutual respect with colleagues and collaborate closely with them. Champion an environment of continuous engagement with distribution team, actuarial, pricing, analytics, underwriting, operations, marketing, communications, claims, IT, finance and others.
  • Supervise and evaluate the financial performance of the Personal Insurance business in Quebec. Identify root cause of results and implement initiatives to achieve profit and growth plans.
  • Identify growth opportunities and collaborate with distribution team and other key business partners to meet financial objectives.
  • Craft go-to-market strategies and messaging with distribution when changes in pricing and/or product are likely to affect brokers or customers.
  • Monitor company, industry, economic and legislative developments and recommend changes in strategies or procedures as necessary.


What you'll bring
  • University degree required
  • Excellent understanding of the personal insurance business and the Quebec market
  • Excellent quantitative and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent technical understanding of pricing, underwriting and actuarial techniques
  • Strong financial subject area and understanding of financial issues relating to insurance companies
  • Skilled communicator, people manager and motivator
  • Excellent strategic analysis skills
  • Ability to bring teams together to jointly resolve and plan for key priorities
  • Bilingual is an asset


Experience
  • Established credibility in the industry and/or marketplace
  • Considerable experience of delivering profitable growth
  • Experience of managing leaders in a matrix structure
