Actuarial Support Co-op Student - Property and Casualty Insurance

(1 position available - Fall 2024)

As an actuarial intern in the property and casualty insurance industry, you will combine mathematics, statistics, and programming to make predictions about future events based on the analysis of historical data. In an industry that is constantly evolving (climate change, new available data, technologies, artificial intelligence, etc.), the field of property and casualty insurance is full of challenges and varied projects. By combining analysis and judgment, actuaries produce recommendations and are led to popularize them.

Here are some examples of projects:
  • Pricing review of various products
  • Modeling (average cost, frequency, etc.)
  • Average cost analyses to determine trends.
  • Creation of work tools (using R programming among others)


Our goal in welcoming an intern to our team:
  • Learn more about the P&C actuarial profession by being supported and collaborating with the professionals on our team.
  • Offer concrete, varied projects in line with the intern's professional development.


Your profile

Requirements:
  • One year completed in the bachelor's degree in actuarial science in the fall of 2024.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (French as an asset)
  • Proficiency in programming, experience with R is considered as an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Curiosity, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills are important qualities for an intern.
  • Prior actuarial experience is considered as an asset.
