Description

We are currently seeking applicants for an AVP, Actuary (Corporate Actuarial) position. The position is the model steward for Hannover's financial reporting and analysis actuarial models. Ensures version control (governance) of which leads to accurate financial results and projections. Models will be used in IFRS 17 financial reporting, Solvency II financial reporting, as well as other financial analysis initiatives, such as inforce management, experience analysis, and premium validation work.

Your Tasks

  • Oversee the "help desk" function of Hannover's actuarial modeling software (RiskAgility-FM), including assisting the resolutions of other model users' technical IT issues and user errors in a timely manner. This includes coordinating server patching with IT and facilitating communication with the Willis Towers Watson as needed.
  • Act as Model Steward in a production role for Hannover's Life Traditional business lines:
    • Implement strong version control request for RAFM code enhancements, Azure DevOps repositories, and other critical tools/systems that support the Traditional financial reporting process. Includes cell-level and regression testing. Covers multiple cohorts of business (Brock, BigMac/Clearwater, Organic, Retro) and reporting purposes (US Statutory, including CRVM, VM-20, and AG48, and Solvency II).
    • Review, approve, and migrate new models and model enhancements to production created by modeling department, including updates to model point creation process.
    • Support others in their modeling initiatives with one-off issues, e.g., PRV team or mortality study team.
  • Act as Model Steward in a production role for Hannover's Health Solutions and Life Structured business lines:
    • Only pertains to RAFM modeled business, does not pertain to MG-ALFA, GGY-AXIS, or other modeling efforts.
    • Prioritize model enhancements along with Life Traditional model enhancements and provide model coding changes and testing materials to business experts for review and signoff before released to production.
    • Model use will remain the responsibility of the Health Solutions and Life Structured experts.
    • Examples of model activities may include building an LTC model, NY health model, asset model.


Your Profile

Essential knowledge skills and abilities: .
  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science or Computer Science
  • Associate / Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
  • Ability to work collaboratively across organization

Desired knowledge skills and abilities:
  • 5+ years of reinsurance experience including a general understanding of the following: reinsurance accounting, valuation, reinsurance treaties, reinsurance administration, and familiarity with standard market conventions of the past 20 years.
  • Proficient in using git for version control, collaboration, and code review. Familiar with git workflows, branching strategies, and best practices.

Travel: 5% Occasional travel to other Hannover offices may be required

Total Compensation Range: $156,600 - $211,900 (inclusive of Base and Bonus).
