Description

We are currently seeking applicants for a Financial Analyst (FRV) position. You are responsible for the quarterly Statutory, IFRS and Solvency II financial reporting for assigned accounts. You conduct in-depth analysis of client reported electronic data to ensure it is accurate and timely in accordance with treaty guidelines. You communicates information about client issues and unusual reporting trends with actual or potential financial consequences to the appropriate stakeholders.

Your Tasks

Statutory, IFRS and Solvency II Financial Reporting
  • Prepare and analyze the quarterly Statutory, IFRS and Solvency II financial reports for assigned assumed reinsurance treaties and related retrocessions to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Provide clear explanations for reporting period variances. Work closely with the actuarial teams during the reporting process to ensure amounts recorded are accurate.
  • Prepare financial workpaper documentation, schedules, and reconciliations as required for internal and Hannover Office deliverables as well as external audit to substantiate compliance with local and IFRS reporting standards.
  • Consolidate and review asset data for structured market categories to facilitate risk monitoring.
  • Perform forecast upload and review to support the quarterly reporting cycle.

Cash Reporting, Client Data, and Analysis
  • Develop an understanding of treaty guidelines specific to assigned treaties to determine expectations of both parties.
  • Conduct analysis of client reported data to determine accuracy in accordance with treaty guidelines.
  • Communicate actual or potential financial consequences or business risks to the appropriate stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Calculate and analyse Experience Refunds and Loss Carryforwards.
  • Accurately record details of all client reporting using various company business systems to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Analyze Trend Reports for reasonability and balance checks.

Problem Solving
  • Identify and investigate client reporting inconsistencies. Suggest appropriate resolutions. Implement agreed-upon corrections.
  • Propose procedures to improve processing inefficiencies.
  • Identify action items resulting from the quarterly financial reporting, and coordinate with the actuarial teams to resolve.


Your Profile

Essential knowledge skills and abilities:
  • College Degree from an accredited institution in a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Life or Health or Property & Casualty (re)insurance
  • Advanced business knowledge of (re)insurance concepts
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining professional client, reinsurer and internal relationships
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook); Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel); Competent user of Hyperion Reporting
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and prioritize workload effectively according to contractual obligations, volume, and/or urgency
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
  • Provides accurate and timely updates on status of work and escalates issues appropriately
  • Takes responsibility for quality, completeness and accuracy of work

Desired knowledge skills and abilities:
  • Knowledge of Health, Special Risk, and Life reinsurance practices and principles
  • Industry relevant designations
  • Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis with large data sets
  • Knowledge of systems and data structures, with applicability towards (re)insurance operations
  • Demonstrates an appreciation of current issues affecting their profession and the health reinsurance industry
  • Business knowledge of accounting and finance

Travel: < 5% - client visit with domestic overnight travel (~1x per year)

Total Compensation Range: $74,200 - $100,400 (inclusive of Base and Bonus).
