The Compensation Specialist will have primary responsibility for supporting day-to-day administration of compensation programs supporting Toshiba's Total Rewards strategy. This role responds to employee inquiries, conducts position evaluations and job classifications, conducts research and analysis, prepares presentations, documents, and dashboards, and administers compensation plans and policies to ensure that they are being administered according to the regulations, laws and procedures established by the Company and various regulatory and compliance agencies.

  • Day-to-day point of contact for employees and outside vendors on all compensation-related inquiries; provides professional and timely customer service support to internal and external customers.
  • Assists with analyzing, designing, administering, and coordinating organization's employee compensation programs, to include but not limited to annual market pricing exercises, base pay, bonus plan administration, and the annual salary increase process, to ensure alignment with company goals and competitive market trends.
  • Conducts salary and labor market research and analysis to help define best practice trends. Responsible for the submission, analysis, and consultation of annual salary market surveys.
  • Provides advice, training, and support to internal HR team and Management in the application of compensation management principles, guidelines, procedures, and best practices.
  • Collaborates with HR team in the analysis and review of job classification and reclassification requests; quality controls the job classification process for both existing positions and newly created positions and performs job audits as appropriate.
  • Prepares and delivers comprehensive compensation analyses, reports, and presentations to various stakeholders.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and communication of compensation programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Conducts data analysis in Excel, including creation and management of complex spreadsheets.
  • Maintains and updates job description library and job data in HR system, for new roles and changes to roles, ensuring consistency among functions and data integrity.
  • Supports HR team to create and analyze job descriptions and classifications.
  • Develops, analyzes, and maintains complex Excel reports to support data analysis.
  • Assists with preparing presentations that effectively summarize findings of compensation analysis, brings insights, and supports recommendations.
  • Researches and advises on relevant state and federal laws to ensure the organization remains compliant with its compensation policies.
  • Ensures confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Coordinates and assists with HR projects, programs, and special assignments.
  • Assists with vendor partnership and processes related to compensation management software.
  • Assists with identifying and recommending process enhancement opportunities for improvements in accuracy and timeliness.
  • Independently manages time effectively and prioritizes tasks, showing ownership of one's work.
  • Partners with internal stakeholders including Legal, Tax, Accounting, Finance, HR, and Payroll as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, actuary sciences, business administration, finance, or related field required.
  • Human Resources (PHR/SHRM-CP) and/or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification a plus.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Compensation Analyst/Specialist with an employee population of 1000 plus employees.
  • Knowledge of compensation policies and practices including market pricing, compensation structure creation and maintenance (including all market competitive compensation elements), and laws and regulations.
  • Possesses a strong sense of urgency, resourcefulness, and attention to detail.
  • Strong working knowledge in Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel (i.e. pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.), PowerPoint, and HR systems (experience with UKG preferred). The ability to quickly get up to speed and master new applications and software is critical.
  • Ability to independently manage time effectively and prioritize tasks, showing ownership of one's work, completing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while delivering core responsibilities.

Working Environment:

  • Most of the work takes place in an office and the work environment is that of a typical office environment in a manufacturing setting where noise levels are usually moderate. Frequently the employee will interact with personnel in the plant and may be exposed to higher noise levels.
