Overview:

Institutional Retirement Solutions (IRS) delivers longevity and investment-related solutions within the retirement marketplace, including our Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) solution. PRT allows employers to transfer a portion of their company's defined benefit retirement plan to Securian through the purchase of a group annuity. This fast-paced, growing market aligns with our mission to build secure tomorrows for our customers.

This position is responsible for the execution of Institutional Retirement Solutions' PRT new business processes, including analysis of new opportunities and compiling and formatting data files to facilitate PRT bids. Upon sale, reconciles final data and develops onboarding files and materials to ensure seamless client transition. Partners with IRS new business team and actuarial team to achieve aggressive, fast-paced PRT sales goals. The position will also support other IRS product lines, as needed.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • New Business Analysis: Partners with other Business Operations Consultants to review bid objectives and data to evaluate new PRT business opportunities; leads underwriting discussions on a weekly basis with the operations team, actuarial partners and management to make final bid decisions within underwriting guidelines.
  • Pricing Models: Responsible for analyzing, scrubbing and compiling data received from Intermediaries to create, maintain and modify actuarial pricing models for new PRT opportunities; partners with actuarial team. Corresponds directly with Intermediaries to clarify data questions.
  • Client Onboarding: Works directly with the client and Intermediary to identify, analyze and resolve data discrepancies. Develops final data file and Welcome Kit mailing to onboard new clients and individual annuitants; works directly with the Benefits Distribution Center team, ALIP team, and the actuarial team to ensure tools and processes result in a seamless new client transition.
  • Data Reconciliation: Performs post-sale data reconciliation; develops exhibits to summarize findings and supports communication of results by the Manager to PRT clients.
  • Cross-train to support Business Operations Sr. Analyst work to provide bench strength and support during peak volumes; supports other IRS-related business processes as needed.


Qualifications:
  • Successful track record in a four-year degree program in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics, Math, or Business or equivalent experience.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Excel and Word; experience analyzing and manipulating data in Excel, to work with liability and pricing models and interact with actuaries as needed to enhance existing applications and develop new applications.
  • Pension or PRT experience is preferred; pension expertise including a strong understanding of qualified defined benefit plans, understanding of institutional pension/retirement business and pension risk transfer.
  • Proven project management skills to assure all tasks are identified and completed within tight deadlines. This includes organizational, planning and decision-making skills to manage multiple proposals and projects.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and on a small client team.


Securian Financial provides hybrid work as an integral part of our culture. Associates get the benefit of both working from home and in our offices. If you're in a commutable distance (90 minutes) you'll join us 2-3 days each week in our offices to collaborate and build relationships. Our policy allows flexibility for the reality of business and personal schedules. When working in our offices at least two days per week isn't feasible (vacations, illness, travel, etc.), an eight day per month standard is an option.
