This position will be based in our London office with a hybrid schedule that has the option of working two days remotely each week.

Team Overview

Global Specialties is an exciting new division within Everest Reinsurance. The team Underwrites and provides strategic direction across the whole Reinsurance Division for the following classes of business:
  • Engineering and Onshore Energy
  • Aviation
  • Marine
  • Cyber
  • Parametric Solutions


Role Purpose
  • We are seeking a Specialties Underwriter to join our Global Specialties team in London.
  • Play a key part in the profitable development and maintenance of high-profile lead books across Aviation, Engineering, Marine and Energy.


Key Accountabilities

Support the expansion of Global Specialties accounts in line with business plans and underwriting strategy, whilst maintaining a focus on bottom line underwriting profit and delivery of Everest internal plans
  • Develop a sound understanding of the underwriting strategy for areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain a focus on building and strengthening Everest's relationships with Clients and Brokers
  • Actively invest and be able to demonstrate an expansion of underwriting and product knowledge, through dedicated training (internal and external) and working with other underwriters on specific accounts
  • Developing the skills required to managing a portfolio of renewal business, including underwriting & pricing, claims, referral, processing, broker, and client relationship aspects; and servicing any new business request in the same way.
  • Represent Everest at meetings both in the office and during visits to brokers and clients.
  • To liaise with the Claims, Finance and Actuarial teams where necessary
  • Business travel as required to support the above objectives, and the appropriate management of T&E expenses.


Professional Experience:
  • Relevant Reinsurance experience gained from either a Reinsurer or Broker
  • Working towards a professional qualification
  • Educated to degree level


Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of one or more of the Global Specialty lines of business
  • Strong numeracy and Excel skills
  • Excellent marketing skills are required to develop and maintain relationships with clients and brokers.
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills and the ability to flourish in a collaborative environment.
  • Self-motivated and independent whilst maintaining underwriting discipline to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Ability to stay organised within a fast paced, team orientated and high intensity work environment with the ability to effectively prioritise tasks.
